PRODUCT OF SOCIETY [THE FILM]
Documentary - 64mins - 2011

“–not the product of a sane mind,” is how AINT IT COOL NEWS describes Jon Michael Lennon’s independently published comic books. With this film, director Matthew Zingale proves that this may have been a correct assumption. This documentary follows Lennon’s progress as he struggles to finish a new comic book in time for Chicago Comic-Con 2010. At first glance Lennon appears to be a normal white American male, but as soon as he opens his mouth his normalcy is called into question. His continuous unhinged ramblings, depressive episodes and constant contradictory statements and actions paint a picture of a uniquely human individual that possibly embodies the spirit of America in this modern age. Lennon’s self-doubt colors his every action and builds tension as the deadline for Comic-con looms ever closer. This stellar documentary may leave the audience pondering rather some artists are better left unknown.

Reviews:
The Northern Star: 4 out of 5 Stars
The Napalm Assault: "This movie works because it’s the unadulterated truth. Nothing is glossed over. Jon isn’t afraid to show us how he lives, and Matt isn’t afraid to film it. Do you want to know how it is to be an independent artist? Check out PRODUCT OF SOCIETY [THE FILM], and you won’t be disappointed."

Dog racing has been a declining industry across America. Half of the tracks that were open 20 years ago are no longer in operation. This film explores the sport deeper, going into the workings of the Mystique Greyhound Park in Dubuque, Iowa, and exploring the attempt by politicians to eliminate the tracks in the state of Iowa.

Collected Memories

This film is a personal exploration of who I am.  Using interviews with my mother and exploring items of mine that she has saved throughout the years we are exposed to just what our possessions mean and just what family and love truly is.
